The long haul truck drivers that I have talked to cover the floor and the seats to catch things that fall down and to make cleanup easier when you're not hauling. Time is money and the boss man always wants a quick turnaround. Only stop for mandatory sleep periods and to refuel. You eat, drink and other things as you drive.
Stovebolt GM trucks were designed to be working trucks. They were expected to get dirty.
