The shooting stopped at the 11th hour of the 11th month on the 11th day. We went to school at 8:00 am and were lectured on the history and meaning of the occasion and then let out of class at 10:00 to watch the parade. The biggest applause was for the Doughboys in their WW1 uniforms. In 1942 many were only in their 40's and had fresh memories of trenches and gas.
