Not even close to hot enough, plus the guide and the head are both cast iron and expand at the same rate. The trick is to heat the head a little with a torch, after drilling out most of the guide to leave just a shell to be driven out. As always, a little experience and common sense goes a long way, and that's something that comes from making expensive mistakes, most of the time!
