For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 1,904 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2001 Posts: 1,904 | My 261 (casting # 3769925) has 2 captain's 5/8" long bars placed 3/4" apart just above the center of the starter. They're like an "11."
My old 235 (casting # 3701481 in front of the fuel pump!) also has the captain bars! I measured the bore to confirm it's a 235. It's a full-pressure 235 and had hydraulic lifters. Folks say it came from a '53 car with Power Glide. 1948 3/4-Ton 5-Window Flatbed Chevrolet 34 Years. Now with a '61 261, 848 head, Rochester Monojet carb, SM420 4-speed, 4.10 rear, dual reservoir MC, Bendix up front, 235/85R16 tires, 12-volt w/alternator, electric wipers and a modern radio in the glove box.
