An old boy from Tennesse taught me an old trick. You get your buddy to pull up on the wheel while you put a ball peen hammer on the shaft. Take another hammer and give it a whack and the wheel pops off. Someone yelled that hitting two hammers together is dangerous because the striking surfaces are tempered and can shatter, cause injury. He claimed that the ball end of a ball peen isn't tempered. Frankly, I wasn't sure I believed him so I just use a big brass hammer on the ball peen. Works every time!!!
