Hello All,

I went around to all the local tyre places and none will handle the lock rims on my 1940 Chevrolet truck. After some research on Stovebolt I went across from the dead 7.00 - 20 inch tyres to a set of six 825R20 which came with rims off a newish Japanese truck. So knowing that no tyre fitters will touch my truck's wheel rims I want to know whether it is possible to keep the 1940 front and rear axles and just change the wheel hubs from the 1940 to wheel hubs that will suit the donor Japanese truck wheels? The rear axle is a dual wheel axle to make things just a little more complicated.

Here in Australia ... "G'day" ... only very specialist certified engineers can cut the wheel centers out of an old rim and weld them into a modern wheel rim. Their pricing to do these 'custom' jobs is rather fierce - they charge like a wounded bull. Under Australian Design Rules for motor vehicles things like wheel spacers are illegal. So modifications are very restricted and they usually involve engineers and engineering inspections.

Kind regards
Lionel
