As Peggy said, we're willing to help spread the word ... but ... We've (Peggy and I, a few others) been doing this web site for 26 years. We've seen a lot of efforts, good ideas, etc come and go ... Based on that experience, here's a couple of things I gently and respectfully offer up for whatever they may be worth to anyone:
1. Group buys at Stovebolt (whether it be t-shirts, plate toppers, specialty parts, tools, etc -- we've had quite a few over the years) *rarely* attract more than 20 participants. 75 is quite ambitious. Not saying impossible, though ... 250? To be very blunt -- that is not a realistically achievable goal. I don't think 75 is, either, but who knows? See next point.
2. I've bought *most* of my restoration parts (for 2 complete frame-off restos and two on-going drivers) from Jim Carter (
Jim Carter Truck Parts) or the late Pete Kinney (American Classic -- which was bought out and no longer exists). Pete kept this site alive in the early days and Jim has always been a great supporter of the site -- giving 'Bolters great deals and offering great quality parts. I've never had an issue with Jim's parts, but if I did, I fully trust that he'd make it right.
Carter is selling his windlace for $36.00. I'd like to hear from anyone who's had quality issues with Jim's windlace. But if and when the time comes to replace mine, Jim would be my default source.
What I'm getting at is that you are asking us to spend more for parts from an unknown source -- do we know anything about their quality (do they manufacture here or in China/offshore)? Return policy/quality guarantee? I'd be concerned about Stovebolters getting ripped off or scammed ...
Not trying to quell any enthusiasm, just saying there's more to this we need to know ...
