In the jargon of yesteryear the term WestCoasters was often used to describe a long wheelbase tractor used on the left coast and in the mountain states. These were large trucks with large cabs, 22 and 24 inch wheels, long nose conventionals with big power. Often were Petes and K-Whoppers that were purpose built for logging and western states bridge formulas. Many other manufacturers built large trucks too but they were commonly outfitted differently with shorter wheelbases and lower powered engines. However one could see Whites, Marmons, GMC's, Diamond Reo's etc set up to "WestCoast" standards too. The first COE factory sleeper I ever saw as a kid was an early Freightliner back when Consolidated Freightways built them for their own use. I still remember that "huge" WestCoaster truck parked in our town.
