If your original engine is junk you might want to consider a 250. They are plentiful and cheap,parts are available at any parts store. The 250 is a strong engine with 7 main bearings They get a bum rap from a lot of folks,but are pretty tough motors, and do quite well in older bolts. It's a fair amount of work to swap one out but no where near the work to put in a v8. just my 2 cents worth.....
