Greetings:

Freshened a very tired 35A generator with new Delco branded pieces. The armature got a fresh solder, bake, and turn. I found a used 1119220C generator controller that turns out to be DOA. The generator has a healthy 1.4xV residual magnetism voltage. Grounding the field lead and slowly increasing rpm shows a progressive increase in voltage. I ended up installing a generic NAPA equivalent controller. Now the system works correctly but I want an original Delco controller.

I would like some good field diagnostics for diagnosing voltage regulator, current regulator, or cut-in relay. The next step would be repair options with a dead controller.

Thank you.

Dave
