Lots of work on Brad's part ... pure enjoyment (and references) for you!

For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2021 Posts: 20 TomStenger533600 | | TomStenger533600 Joined: Jan 2021 Posts: 20 | Does anyone know - if it's possible- for me to obtain just the bottom flange of the carburetor (part no. 1-794S) somewhere? I was cleaning up the old carb purchased from thecarburetorshop along with their rebuild kit, and got overzealous trying to remove the throttle valve from the throttle assembly shaft. Broke off one of the screws that hold it to the shaft :^/. After researching, I learned the hard way that I should have left well-enough-alone: THE THROTTLE SCREWS HOLDING THE THROTTLE TO THE SHAFT WERE PEENED AT THE FACTORY TO PREVENT DROPPING INTO THE ENGINE. Now looking at extracting the screw (and potentially having to retap a slightly larger hole). The thecarburetorshop has been helpful with information sheets, videos, you name it, but they don't have flanges or the throttle shaft and lever assembly (3-781S) separately available. Would gladly sell me another old carb to re-start with :^/.
My '53 3600 has been a great truck to restore, great learning experience, therapeutic, and confidence-building. But I'm finding that the patience part takes time and a lot of self-discipline. Maybe posting this will help alert other novices like myself to think twice before touching the carb flange :^)
