After getting everything back together from the heat riser valve job, I have a question I've been wondering about ever since I bought this truck years ago. Where, exactly, does the accelerator return spring hook up to? I pulled mine off to get to the bi-metallic spring and the oil filter hoses, and now I want to know what the correct position is, since mine has always been 'weak' and it's almost habit for me to stick my toe under the gas pedal and pull it up when I'm letting off the gas. It has always been rigged up to the linkage at the carb, but was connected to the firewall and never did it's job right, as far as I was concerned. It was like that when I bought it, but is sure doesn't look right, or act right, either.
I'm going to order a new one, since this one looks half stretched, but where are the correct connection points? The engine is a '56 235, but it's in a '51 3100. I know there's not much, if any, difference in the body, but it's evident it isn't in the right place. Thanks for any help, especially pics. Lee
