Originally the radio would have had a main power lead for the fuse and another wire that would power the dial light. That latter is meant to be connected to where the dash lights are connected on the headlight switch. This way the dial light is controlled by the dimmer. Sometimes if the switch has been replaced in the radio, there is no separate wire for the dial light,
