Quick question for my sheet metal work that I'm documenting in the project journals (restoring the basketcase). I'm working on the outer cowl panel and there was/is a ton of lead body filler on the joint with the upper cowl. I used a torch to remove most of the lead, but I don't seem to be able to get down to completely bare steel. Is there some specific technique that I can use to get completely bare steel, suitable for welding on or should I try to make my welds from inside the cab? I really want to use the holes created by drilling out the spot welds, but am concerned about residual lead contaminating the weld. Thanks for the help!
