Truth is hood fit from the factory new was hit and miss. Good enough for a truck was the order of the day.
After disassembly and 50 years of use ……..hood fit is challenging. Your playing to X,Y and Z positioning of every component of the front end and cab. 1/8- 1/4” left or right of the radiator support means 1” at the cowl.
There are @ least 40 variables in play in hood, cowl and fender fit…….there in lays the challenge. Then add the tolerance stacking and aftermarket parts.
Several of the professional builds on TV and YouTube spend hours fixing the front fit and gaps.
