What size truck, and engine, are you working with? It sounds like you've got one of the LuberFiner brand heavy-duty truck filters, but the dimensions you give aren't big enough to be the "750" series, which is the most common size. Those are about 8" in diameter, and about 15" tall.

It's possible to get a remote mount for a regular spin-on filter, but if you're dealing with a 235 or 216 engine, you'll need a restrictor orfice to prevent starving the engine for oil. Those engines don't have any provision for a full-flow filter, so a small volume of oil is bypassed through the filter and back to the oil pan.
