J Lucas,
Thanks for the kind words

.
Yes, the rock is crushed blue granite. We are in the process of Xeriscaping (spelling??) our whole yard and my wife and I like the contrast of the blue granite next to the lava rock and larger diameter river rock border.
I chose to build 2 sheds because the building codes out here in the Colorado Springs area says that the maximum size of a shed without a permit is 10'x12'. My sheds are 8'x12'...the 8' dimension merely to coincide with 8' sheet goods.
I built the doors using mortise and tenon contruction from pine stock I had milled several years earlier from large logs. The panels are AC grade plywood; I machined "V" grooves in the face for an "old" decorative look.
I've been swinging a hammer since 3rd grade as Dad was a general contractor. There isn't much in terms of residential construction that I haven't done. I'm thankful that Dad is such a well rounded craftsman skilled in a variety of disciplines...and a good teacher.
One of these days I'll be building a 28' x 40' shop to house all my woodworking tools and machines as well as my mechanic tools and yes, of course, my dump truck.
Again, thanks for the kind words!!!
