The housing might be taller, but the diameter of the filter housing won't change. There was a 1 1/2 quart canister filter that was used on some of the bigger trucks that used a taller filter cartridge, but it was the same diameter as the passenger car item. If you want to remove the cartridge to check for a part number, nothing would prevent you from either reinstalling the old filter, or simply replacing the empty canister until you can source a correct cartridge. The engine won't know the difference.
