L = December
28 = 28th
2 = year (in this case 1962) which makes sense for a 1963 engine.

Here are some casting codes on L6 engines I have/had. Looks like my 1963 230ci was cast only 33 days after yours.

A 292 has features that set it apart from the 230ci and 250 ci.


I should have posted a picture of the engine I don't know why I didnt before, but based on your pictures and info from the other post its a 292.


I got the truck from my neighbor only a few months ago, they had it sitting up in a barn for the last 4 years.
I have been working on it to use as a farm truck for basic road repairs and such.

I have replaced all the fuel lines and vacuum lines as well as all the brake lines and master cylinder and brake booster.
I also changed oil and such and re did the radiator,

Everything had been running great until it broke the cylinder so this is where I am now.
