Looking at the parts manual, it appears that the 18 tooth side gears that The Filling Station has are for 3/4 and 1 ton differentials. 1/2 ton side gears with 16 teeth appear to be the same from 46-54, so you might be able to source a set from a rear axle that someone is getting rid of.
