There is too much play in my steering wheel. So I pulled out the shop manual and started to adjust it. Per the manual I pulled the pitman arm off the shaft. Next I loosened the the lash adjusting bolt 2 turns to remove load from worm bearings. Next I was supposed to gently turn the steering wheel till it engaged the gears. The problem is the steering wheel never engaged any gears. Wheel only stopped turning when it reached the 'stops'. No resistance except for the stops. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any help. Jon | | |
