Just reading this post with a great deal of interest as I also have just purcheased my first 46 1 1/2 ton. have to get it home before i can start fixing it up. Got it for $1000 AUS so around $800 US but at the moment is around 3000 miles from my home town... transport organised it should be here by the end of April.

The truck started it's life in the RAAF and then was bought by a fire department after the war. This is as much as I know about it so far.
