I've read previous posts on this topic and I'm not sure which clutch to use with the 1955 261 I'm rebuilding to go into a 1953 3100 w/ 4speed. When I took the 261 from a parted out 1952 1/2T, it had a 9" clutch and 6 bolt pressure plate to a 216 flywheel. Previous posts state the 9" clutch is not adequate for the 261.
Both Jim Carter and Chevy Duty sell a 10" clutch. Is the 10"clutch my best option, and will it bolt to the 216 flywheel and fit in the 216 bellhousing?
A 10 3/4" clutch pressure plate uses 9 bolts to flywheel and LAPS sell a 11 7/8" clutch. Both would require a different flywheel and bellhousing. I've been unable to find a 10.4" clutch some previous posts have referred to.
