Just a comment: If you clean off the rust from your patch (and the edges of the holes), you'll get a MUCH better quality weld using MIG. If you're using flux core wire instead of solid mig wire, the polarity needs to be reversed and penetration will be deeper, increasing the potential for blowing holes in the metal.
