I have a '54 235 saginaw 4 speed and a chevy 12 bolt with 3.55. bought the truck this way but knew I wanted to change eventually and eventually has arrived.

I was able to buy an 84 s10 T5 for $250 in great condition so I can get an overdrive gear(have a 45 mile trip 3-4 times a month).

The condition of the rear seems fine but it is 6 lug and and I have a Heidts mustang II drop in the front and it is 5 lug. The suspension is not in great shape so I was thinking of changing to a 91-2001 explorer 3.73 posi with disks. Thoughts? problems?

I'm not going 4 link but any recommended suspension kits would also be appreciated.
