Local FB ad has some 8-bolt 17.5 single wheel rims (one piece) for sale from a 58 Chevy truck. Haven't gone to look at them yet, but wanted some thoughts on if these would work well on my 59 1-ton pickup?
The truck originally came to me with 17 inch split rims, and I'm currently running 9.5R-16.5 tires on it in order to clear the rear drums and provide the steering component clearance in the front. The seller is asking $200 for the set of four 17.5 rims (would probably offer less anyway), and since I'm not in dire need of something I haven't rushed over to look at them. The 17.5 rims have hub cap clips, so they would allow me to use the original caps that came with the truck. I can bring a spare rear drum along from my truck to test that fit, but if someone knows they won't work I won't waste my time.
Provided that these 17.5 rims would work on a 1-ton, what tire sizes are an option for those rims and would it give me much more height than the current 16.5s? Thanks.
