Jerry - the Carter 730s is one of the high end replacements for the Chevrolet engine.

Without pulling a carb to look at the passages, GUESSING one is for the vacuum power circuit, and the other is for the automatic choke.

When changing to any carburetor other than the original, one should ALWAYS use the mounting gasket supplied by the manufacturer of the carburetor in question.

I looked up the one for the 730s; it is Carter part number 1A-41.
