All good points, Jon! Back when I was in high school, one of my friends managed to adapt three Stromberg 97 2-barrels to a 216 in an otherwise stock 51 Chevy coupe. Since there was a slight upgrade from his garage to the road he never quite made it up there for a test drive. However, he did set the engine compartment on fire from backfiring several times trying to take that test drive! The next time I saw him, the original single carb and intake manifold was back on it!
