Most hubs have a reservoir built into them between the two bearings, so jacking up a wheel usually doesn't help prevent spillage. Just put something like the pan used for baking a loaf of bread under the axle flange to catch the spill. No, borrowing one from the kitchen cabinet IS NOT a good idea! Ask me how I know!
