The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop am I able to check for the top hinge nut without cutting cowl?

My 1957 Panel's driver-side, upper door hinge, is missing the top bolt. I can't tell from looking, through the hole, if the cage nut is in there or not.

If I remove the hinge from its location, would I be able to feel up inside to determine if the nut is totally gone or not? I can't see down from the top obviously, as there is the cowl/metal there.
