Hi Wally. My name is Steve. New to Stovebolt forum but not to these fine old trucks and cars. Just now saw and read your 2003 post and liked it so much. Thank you for sharing. I started driving, leagally, in my fathers 56 1/2 ton stepside. That planted the seed that has grown to many classic cars and trucks. Today I am still crying about my 49 Chevy truck I bought for 150.00 in 1976, sold it to a friend that drove to Washington state. I bought a ‘55 3/4 ton Chevy and decided to sell it. I think I made 150.00 on the ‘49. Terrible decision! We seem to be about the same age and I so enjoyed your story. I hope you and your family are doing well.
I am 75 y/o and still wrenching on my stock ‘55 in Texas.
