Personally, I would not consider using original equipment 283 heads unless I was building a numbers-correct show car. The best of those heads have all been worn out, rebuilt, and worn out again. There are thousands of remanufactured 58CC 305 heads available on Ebay and elsewhere which work better, and are 30 years newer than those power pack heads. Here's a few casting numbers:
