Did the same thing on my '62. I was using a 1967 250 at the time. hen I changed to the 1967 327, same set up worked. Same thing when I went to the 1963 327.
Just ran the plumbing from the block to the gauge.
You'll be happier with gauges instead of idiot lights. I know I am.
