Later beds are deeper (floor is closer to the bottom of the sides), so I don't think you can put a 54/55 bed on an earlier frame. In 54, the frame hump over the axle was shorter to allow for the deeper bed. A 47/53 bed should fit on a later frame, but may need to have different spacer blocks - easy enough to do.
A quick call to Mar-K would confirm that. I'm sure they'd be happy to give you the correct scoop.
