Depends entirely on what you bought, where you bought it and what you got. There are some conversions which come with brackets that must be bent slightly to fit, some in my opinion which are lacking one support bracket and some others which I really couldn't tell you squat about. If you got the most common kit, here is what I'd say the sequence ought to be:
1. remove the speedometer, radio and speaker including the trim pieces. You can do the job with these in place but if you have hands the size of mine, it won't be fun. Then remove your outside wiper arms and set those aside.
2. remove the spring clip holding the linkage system together
3. remove the old wiper motor
4. install new wiper motor on the same wiper bracket (2 screws) as the original vac motor and you may or may not have the additional support bracket, also
5. now before you install your old wiper arms (linkage arms) turn on the new motor after connecting positive 12v to the red wire on the switch, the yellow wire to the slow speed tab of the switch, the white wire to the fast speed tab and the green wire to the park tab. This is to be certain your motor is grounding properly.
6. now install the linkage arms to the motor using the spring clip (same orientation as original) and turn on to slow speed. If you see anything binding or acting funny, you can adjust the motor...there is a screw on the mounting plate which lets you do this. Adjusting the motor should correct any problem you might have (alignment)
7. when the thing is working smoothly at both speeds, install your wiper arms on the external shafts so they sit just above the level of your windshield rubber (when your wipers are in the off position, that is)
Good luck...this isn't difficult at all if you think it through logically. I'd avoid any of the YouTube videos. I haven't seen one that didn't look like it was made by dumb and dumber.
