Originally, I had an idea about using a small block V8 oil pump on a 216 to get past the "no oil pressure at idle" problem the spray-oiler engines have, but building an adapter for the offset drive system and the angle the pump mounts in relation to the drive presented some problems. Then I noticed that the 250 pump has approximately the same size gears as the V8, but adapting the mounting and the drive shaft is much simpler. The same pump on an unmodified spray-oiler should come close to doubling the oil pressure. That pump is common to several engines- - - -the Chevy II 4 cylinder, and the 194, 230, 250, and 292 engines. Fun stuff!
