| | | | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 3,388 Crusty Old Sarge | | Crusty Old Sarge Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 3,388 | An old racer trick is to fab up some plates that clamp the leafs together in front of the axle. These are about 3/4" wide and are an 1" or so longer than the width of the leafs. Drill holes in the plates that will allow them to be bolted on top and bottom of the springs. 5/16" or 1/4" grade 5 bolts with locking nuts should work. These plates are mounted where each leaf meets, leaving about 3" or so between the end of the leaf. This only needs to be done in front of the axle, and will really tighten up spring pack and act as a traction bar. I have used these on my 56' 210 for years and along with traction bars it realy hooks up, and it's cheap!
