The thing about it is that I am not so sure those figures are accurate. I ran a stock 235 down maple grove raceway in 77. Single carb. Ran like 23 seconds. Tinkered, tuned, adjusted, I could get it to 22. I put a weiand intake with two YF carbs and some Clifford headers and the car ran in the Middle 20s. I did nothing more then that. Rebuilt the motor, installed a Chet Herbert reground cam and was in the 18s. Gearing and it was in the high 16s. And that was a street motor that I was driving every day. So I am not in the camp that duals are just eye candy and I am probably one of the few that has actually run a few of these motors down a track.

I had an offy Tri power with three rochesters, I still have the intake. Could never really get that set up to run right and it did not improve anything at the track. Ran terrible actually. I tried it with Holley glass bowl carbs, same thing. But I will bet you could get it close with YFs or as you suggested Jon, W-1s.

There is a place for a stock motor just as there is a place for a modified motor. My experience is that the dual intake adds a little performance. Just my experience.
