In the midst of rewiring my 49 '3600

The heater is clearly and obviously not original: I say that because the heater lines are not in the original place, they've been moved toward the center probably 6-8"; the motor seems to be 12V. That's fine... but there are also a set of wires on the LH (driver's) side one of which was hooked up to a hardware store rotary switch labelled "defrost"; the other one was hanging loose but had a broken aftermarket terminal on it.

So my questions:

1) One might tend to think these wires are for an electric heater control valve....am I right? (there is no manual defrost cable)

2) One might also make the assumption the wire that was hanging loose was for a ground? I'm asking because I hooked them up to a battery, but all I got was a healthy spark - couldn't hear anything.

3) Any idea what this heater is out of, so I can source parts if needed? (I know there's part numbers on there somewhere but I can't find them as it sits, don't really want to pull it at the moment)

Thanks!!!
