I was missing a brake pedal return spring (previous owner used a bungie cord tied to the steering column). I ordered this spring:

My issue is, the mounting diagram from the factory assembly manual, shows this connecting from the lower pedal assembly to the rear of the master cylinder mounting bracket. That is a heck of a long way for a spring of this size to cover, and I don't see how this is possibly the correct size spring.
So my question is this: Did I get the wrong spring? If so, does anyone have a source on replacing spring #3653155 (id# from the manual)?
If it IS the right spring and I'm missing something... any tips on installing it?
