Yay! I got everything working. I think my headlight switch is faulty. As I mentioned in my original post the terminals designated for the tail lights and "horn" (5 and 6) had no power at any position at any switch pullout position. So I ran a wire from the headlight terminal on the switch to the tail lights. It worked! Seemed logical. Is there anything wrong with that? Will it draw too much load? If you don't see a problem with that I will just attach both wires to that terminal.
