Just a thought here, could you raise the motor mounts? It might give you the clearance you need, nothing drastic just an inch or so. My truck was not originally a V8, so I made the side mount motor mounts. Like Bartomos I'm using Saginaw box outside the frame, the CPP steering gear was not available when I fabed my together.
