Every engine I have ever pulled(that I bothered to tear down, many just go back for core)that was oil fouling a plug had a broken ring in that cylinder. Usually no syptoms except the fouling. Not sure if detonation or what caused the breakage. You may also find that a ring/bearing/gasket kit is cheaper than gaskets+bearings separately. Brian
