I have 2 8ooo lb Ramsey winches on my 76 Century 401 model wrecker. The fill plug is about 1/3 of the way up from the bottom , and it states to use 140 weight gear oil on the cover. Could the cover been removed at one time and been put on upside down? The ones on my truck are hydraulic winches and not chain driven.
