I'd leave the strombergs to the flathead guys. They can be made to work, either with an adapter to the GM carb pattern, or with the Howard 5(!!!!) carb manifold. But be warned, Strombergs are notorious for leaking. They're also some what small. It seems that the Holley/Webber or Carter/Webber is the popular setup, I'm running 2 single bbl Holley 1904s myself.
I looked at the schematic for the Holley/Webber that was posted a few days ago, it looks alot like the Rochester 2SE. Has anyone considered using thet instead of the Holley/Carter/Webber? They are fairly common to find, and have a similar progressive 2 bbl operation. Just putting out an idea.
