My fuel gauge bounces on rough roads when the tank is not full. I think that this is normal for these old vehicles.
Bending the sender float arm might make it more accurate. Of course, you have to remove the sender which is somthing I do not want to do. Instead, one day, I plan to siphon all the gas out and refill the tank while noting the gauge position. This way I will know how much gas I really have whatever the gauge reads.
10 mpg? Since you have stock transmission and gears, I am not surprised.
