Attached is photo of the bare-metal flange (correct term?) where the pedal and shaft assembly go thru the floor panel in my '48 Chevy 1/2 ton truck. Did it come off the assembly line looking like this, or should it be painted black? Also, what did the original fasteners look like? I do realize that very few people will ever see it with it being covered by the floor mat. Thanks. LUKE
Looks correct to me. Probably cadmium plated originally. Rustoleum Silver Metallic spray paint makes for a wonderful replication of cadmium plating if sprayed over Rustoleum Self-etching primer. It flows horribly and somewhat splotchy, which matches Cadmium plating perfectly.
