Those Olds 455's are real torque monsters. I know a guy that has one in his '52 Power Wagon pulling truck. It was pretty much unstoppable.
You will want to keep the trans if you get that engine. The Olds used a specific bell housing pattern, also shared with Buick and Pontiac. Chevy bellhousings and automatics won't bolt up.
