To get the axles out you have to get inside the unit. Pull the cover and let the oil drain in to a bucket or pan. You will need the rear tires and brake drums off. Rotate the carrier around till you see a small headed bolt pointing towards the ring gear. Remove it and don't loose it. Sometimes they are broke off at the threads. This bolt/pin holds the center spider gear axle/pin in place. You may want to take some small picks and small magnet in case the pin section is broke off. You may get lucky and it will screw right out, if not work it with the picks and magnet. Once you get it out, slide the pin out and rotate the two loose gears around till they fall out. They are the same so don't worry about mixing them up. Next push the axles towards each other and the C-clips should fall from the ends of the axles. They are called C-clips because they look just like a C and they hold the axles in. When they fall out just pull the axles out and check for wear at the outer wheel bearing. It should be slightly dull grey and could have small dents in it. If it has chips or a scored area keep looking. Also while you are there check the spider gears for wear and check the ring gear for wear. If they are chipped or worn sharp, keep looking. If you need more information just ask again. Joe
