I just changed the intake manifold on a 64 283 SB Chev from the stock 4bbl to a weiand 8004. Everything went well until I attempted to put in the distributor.

Everything seemed to go OK & it engaged with no problem but there's about 1/2" gap between the distributor seal ring & the top of the manifold where it should rest. I've tried everything to get it to drop that extra 1/2" but no joy.

Do I not have it in all the way? Or is there a difference in the height of the manifold at this seal point? The new intake is already bolted in (of course) & I can't really tell if there's a height difference. If there is, can it be shimmed?

I've never bumped into this situation before so any "adult supervision" is welcome!
